Who can apply?
Self-identified Native American Youth, ages 13-24 years old, in Lincoln, NE (Lancaster County)
Via our Selection Committee, Four Native American Applicants will be picked to participate in our annual Culture is Prevention Program
Application is open! The next cohort will be selected via the selection committee in October 2025.

What will this program provide?
Regalia makers to assist in designing and creating Pow Wow regalia for these young relatives. We provide dance lessons in the youth’s selected Pow Wow Dance Style. Cultural Mentors available each week to guide with protocols and traditions. Drug and Alcohol Prevention Programming.

What do we mean by Culture is Prevention?
Research shows that when our youth are connected to their culture- through dance, ceremony, song, and oral histories; they develop protective factors that reduce the risk of substance misuse. Protective factors like personal wellness, positive self-image, self-efficacy, familial and non-familial connectedness, positive opportunities, positive social norms, and cultural connectedness.
